Today have a scrapbook page to share with you based on my interpretation of the August sketch challenge over on the Scrapping Clearly Blog. There are some awesome prizes to be won and you have all month to enter either via the linky or on the Scrapping Clearly facebook group.
Here is the sketch I followed.
I started with a white sheet of cardstock and had some mixed media fun with it. I used a bubble pattern stencil and teal and navy Colorshine on a piece of cardstock, then I turned the stencil over and stamped it on another piece of cardstock (I couldn't waste the spray could I!!). Then I took another stencil and appplied a Heidi Swapp metallic texture paste randomly across both pages.
I chose the "stamped stencil" pattern to use for todays scrapbook page - the other page is saved for next time! I then chose a selection of papers (Shemille Starshine) and Color Magic Notes (also sprayed with teal and Navy ColorShine) to use on my page. Using Colour Magic papers and notes and ColorShine is a perfect way to coordinate papers and patterns with the rest of your page.
Here is my finished page. These colours coordinate perfectly with the photo of my 2 "posers" on a family day outing!
I've pretty much stuck with the sketch - I find that following a sketch takes a lots of the placement thinking away and makes scrapbooking quicker and fun!
I've added a cluster of wood veneer, flowers and some words cut from one of the strips of patterned papers.
Instead of adding the journalling directly on my page I've added to the back of this Color Magic Note card.
Here you can see more of the detail of the reverse stencil and the metallic texture paste.
