Strike A Pose - with Paper House Productions!

Today I'm sharing my first project as part of the Paper House Productions design team.

I've made a scrapbook page using a paper pad from their extensive range and some Cork'd embellishments.

I started my page by firstly selecting the photos I wanted to use. These photos are of Jessica posing for the camera when she received a medal for her reading :) I usually only use 1 or 2 photos on a page but these 4 just had to be kept together.
I then selected some coordinating papers to use (Green Thumb paper pad) and these Cork'd embellishments (Picture Perfect cork stickers) were perfect!

After deciding on the basic layout of the page I made my own background using watercolors. I love to do this on most of my projects and it is an easy way to coordinate and personalise any paper. I've used yellow, orange and a light blue in this background.

Sometimes I will gesso my page first (using either white or clear gesso) but this time I have not and just used water sparingly - this makes the colors more vibrant :)
I love to journal directly on my page. I dont really like my handwriting but I do love the personalised look.

The strip along the bottom of my page was made by cutting a 1" strip from one of the pages of the paper pad, tearing it in half lengthwise, then attaching it. You cant even see the join in the center (it was a 6x6 pad).
The word Cork'd stickers were perfect to use as a title. I also made my own flair using some of the patterned paper from the pad.
I love to use a roller date stamp to add the date to my layouts.
I cut the paper into strips to make my layout - a great way to use paper economically or to use up all those bits of left-over papers.

Get Messy Art Journal - Week 3!

Today I have some more pages in my Get Messy Art Journal. I'm using a purple Cutesy Style SMASH* folio - each of the pages are so quirky and fun!

On this page I've included a quote that applies to everyone. Something I know I would love to hear in a time of need. Something that we should all say more often in place of trying to "fix" anyone elses problems.
I painted gesso where I wanted to write the quote. I should have used less gesso, but it initially looked like I needed more. I'm still working on my script writing, trying different styles.

Then I added lots of background stamps around the edge (Prima) and word stamps ( Kellie Stamps).

Lastly I coloured some modelling paste with Dylusions ink sprays and stencilled (Heidi Swapp stencil) across the page and swiped it on in a few places - love this technique!
On these next pages I used a quote that I thought was relevant to me.
Again I used a heap of background stamps around the edges of the pages. I added some coloured modelling paste via stencils. I also used a fun "Atta Girl"stamp from Inkaninkadoo, and arrow stamps and "oh yeah" from Kellie Stamps.
These last 2 pages include a quote for my gorgeous family!
Again I used background stamps, stencils and coloured modelling paste and some fun "the bees knees" and "the cats pyjamas" stamps from Inkaninkadoo - these stamps are so cool!
I've had so much fun this week - cant wait till next week and some more "Get Messy" prompts.

Today You Were Meant To Shine!

Today I have a scrapbook page I made using the January Scrapbook Kit - Lots Of Love from Scrappy Canary

This is such a pretty kit and for this layout I used the yellow and neutral papers with pops of colour from the embellishments. I've inked the edges of all my papers and you may have noticed that there is no watercolouring - I wanted to showcase the pretty papers!
There are some pretty tags in the kit and lovely pops of glitter gold. Some of the words on the banner strips didn't suit my layout so I just strategically stuck other banners over the top - makes for a lovely layered effect.
In the kit is a packet of Dear Lizzy watercolor words. I sprayed 2 with some coral Heidi Swapp colorshine. I also cut out the words "you were meant to shine" from a sheet of the patterned paper in the kit.
The heart brad is from the January embellishment kit - Be Mine

A layout is never complete without a few sequins!
I print all my photos on my Epson XP-600. I've used a roller date stamp and a SMASH* pen for journalling.

Get Messy Art Journal - Week 2!

Today I have another post of my creations in my Get Messy Art Journal.

I'm using a purple Cutesy Style SMASH* folio - the pages are so gorgeous!

On this page I've listed lots of "things" that I love. I've randomly written across the page and there is room for more. I've highlighted some of the words with my watercolours and added some stickers, stamps and alphas.
On this next page I've listed lots of "people" that I love. I decided that instead of naming people I would group them and list why I love them. The coloured triangles were part of the pattern on the paper and I added to them with some splashes of coordinating watercolours.
I've included a handstitched tag - too cute!
On these next pages I've included the lyrics to the song we had as our wedding song - Songbird my Fleetwood Mac - so special.
I've included another handstitched tag, lots of stamps and some washi
This was so fun! I could have easily kept going, but washing and housework called.

Get Messy Art Journal - Week 1!

One of my goals for this year is to do more Art Journalling. I heard about the Get Messy Art Journal program/challenge and decided to sign up (costs US$25). "Get Messy" aims to motivate and inspire Art Journaler's to regularly create and share their work within a community. There are weekly prompts and challenges - just the motivation I needed.

I decided to do my art journalling in a SMASH* folio (I love these). I've used the purple Cutesy Style SMASH* folio. The pages are already patterned but I think that adds to the art journalling and I can always gesso over if I want to. I had already decorated the cover of this journal with mists, paints, glitter, stamps, paper and stencils.
On the first page I included the "let's get messy" printable. I've also used some gesso, paints, stamps and washi.
On the LHS of this page is another printable. On the RHS is a quote I found that I related to as part of one of the challenges. Many of the challenges allow for extensive journalling. I didnt feel up to that at this point so I compromised with a quote.
I've done a lot of watercolouring on the background of these 2 pages, and again included relevant quotes. I'm working on my handwriting with a paintbrush. It's always fun to include a few stamps (these are from Kellie Stamps).
On this page I've doodled a continuous pattern across my page, and I've attached a heap of cinema tickets using washi. These movies are all ones I've seen with my daughter Rachael - mother daughter time!
I was on such a roll with the art journalling that I did another page where I stuck movie tickets to the page then lightly covered with gesso. I added a quote, some washi and I used my gelatos around the edge of the page and to roughly colour parts of the page.
I'm looking forward to more art journalling. All of this was done in 1 afternoon. My mantra is to just do it, dont overthink it, and to remember that there are NO mistakes :)

Project Life - Week 4!

Today I'm showing you Week 4 for my "Schultz Family 2015" Project Life Album.

Most of the products used on this page are from Scrappy Canary - specifically the August 2014 kit "Gypsy" and Heidi Swapp wood veneer purchased in store.
Here is a close up of the LHS. I love the bright colours of the paper pad.

This card from the kit was just white with black lines/grid so i used my watercolours to "jazz it up" - paints are a great way to add coordinating colour to your projects.
Here is a close up of the RHS.
I made my own flair with some of the patterned paper
A watercoloured card - a regular of mine!
I print all my photos on my Epson XP-600.and I've used a SMASH* pen for journalling.

Project Life - Week 2!

Today I'm showing you Week 2 for my "Schultz Family 2015" Project Life Album.

All the goodies used on this page are from Scrappy Canary. In particular the January pocket life kit - Candy Heart and the January embellishment kit - Be Mine. The sequins are from the January Scrapbook Kit - Lots Of Love.
Here is a close up of the LHS. I've used all of the girly patterned papers from the kit on these pages. In fact I have used up ALL of the papers in the kit.
The sequin bows and the heart brads from the embellishment kit are perfect on this page!
I love to use extra strips/offcuts of paper in my layering and I made my own flair using some of the paper.

I watercoloured on a piece of white cardstock to add my own personal touch!
Here is a close up of the RHS.
Once again I made my own flair and I used some of the silver glitter stickers directly on my photos :)

I print all my photos on my Epson XP-600.and I've used a SMASH* pen for journalling.
