Elf on the Shelf!

It was nearly a month ago (November 18th) that our "Elf on a Shelf" arrived under our Christmas tree. We like to put up our Christmas tree after the Christmas Pageant here in Adelaide. It is so pretty that I like to be able to enjoy it for as long as possible. At the time there was lots of talk about "December Daily's" (a daily journal with photos of happenings in December). I thought I'd do my version of this by highlighting the antics of our Elf called "Elfie" in a SMASH* folio.

I used a Black SMASH* folio - because I had one already. I decided to keep the pages simpler than usual for me so that it was achieveable in the month and also I didnt want the folio to get to fat! Also on every page I have one of the adorable Elfie in the box digi by Angie Delarie. I printed a heap of these out in many different sizes and tucked them somewhere in the layout (like Where's Wally). I have also used the Elf on the shelf stamp set from "Give a Girl a ..." on all of the pages. This stamp set has many adorable sentiments/sayings that are perfect for SMASH*ing!

I've splattered some dark blue paint in my Black SMASH* folio and used a heap of my favourite products including Give A Girl A ... "Elf on the Shelf" stamp set, Angie Delarie's Elfie in the box digi, Studio Calico wood veneer trees, typewriter, stars and heart, October Afternoon Make it Merry miscellany & papers, Marth Stewart snowflake punch, and twine, rhinestones, washi, doilies & tag from my stash!

Santa, I've Been Goodish!

We had so much fun decorating our Christmas tree this year. There was a thunderstorm outside (and it was about 36degC) and the power was off so I had a captive audience including dad!! lucky it was daylight savings so we had enough light.

Trimming The Tree!

Another week has flown by. No time for crafting it seems and no time for Christmas shopping. This is so unlike me. I always like to be prepared but this year we seem to be busy with school and social events ... already! We have decorated our Christmas tree though (yayyy) and named our Elf on a Shelf ... "Elfie".

Angie Delarie has more adorable and quirky Christmas digis. They are called North Pole Characters Penguin Love and North Pole Characters Trimming The Tree.

I've also used some of the "Christmas Time Is Beaut" sentiments from the new stamp range by Kellie Winnell. There are 16 sentiments and quotes in this range and I have used 2 on this page "Christmas Time Is Beaut" and "Presents".

This SMASH* page uses a photo from last Christmas. It was Christmas Eve and we decided to open a few presents early (we normally open them on Christmas morning).

I've splattered some pink, orange and green paint in my Red SMASH* folio and used a heap of my favourite products including Angie Delarie's North Pole Characters digis (Penguin Love and Trimming the Tree), Give A Girl A ... Jingle Bells Singing Snowmen!

Only 5 more weeks until Christmas! Eek!! I'm not very organised this year. I dont know why. I started making my Christmas cards about a week ago and are about half way through. I havent started Christmas shopping yet. Maybe this week. I bought a new Christmas tree on Saturday and I've assembed it and hung the lights but havent yet done the decoration. I need to wait for my 2 daughters to be around at the same time to do that. Hopefully soon else I'm doing it myself (I hate having to wait lol).

Our "Elf on a Shelf" appeared under the tree this morning. Great excitement for all (expecially me I think). I'm looking forward to his adventures. We are still deciding on a name. We cant seem to agree on one. I'm thinking it may have been easier if he was named before he arrived!

This week there are 2 more fun and quirky Christmas digis being released by the amazingly talented Angie Delarie. They are called North Pole Characters Penelope Pudding and North Pole Characters Singing Snowmen, and they are just adorable!

I've also used some of the "Christmas Time Is Beaut" sentiments from the new stamp range by another amazingly talented gal, Kellie Winnell. There are 16 sentiments and quotes in this range and I have used 2 on this page "jingle bells" and "tis the season".

This SMASH* page uses a photo from last Christmas. My 2 girls hugging after exchanging presents! This is what I love about Christmas.

I've splattered some pink, orange and green paint in my Red SMASH* folio and used a heap of my favourite products including Angie Delarie's North Pole Characters digis (Penelope Pudding and SInging Snowmen), Give A Girl A ... "Christmas Time is Beaut" stamp set, Studio Calico wood veneer hearts & camera, October Afternoon Holiday Style miscellany, flower sack & stickers, and twine & tag from my stash!

Treats for Santa and the Reindeer!

I just love using the fabulous digis and embellishments from Angie Delarie. The latest release is North Pole Characters - Isn't this Reindeer and Gingerbread man adorable! There is also a Snowman and Elf in this release.

On Christmas Eve we always leave a bucket of water and a carrot outside for the Reindeer and a gingerbread cookie and water or ginger beer for Santa (remember it is hot here in Australia for Christmas!). What do you leave for Santa?

I've splattered some green paint in my Red SMASH* folio and used a heap of my favourite products including Angie Delarie's North Pole Characters digis, Give A Girl A ... "Christmas Time is Beaut" stamp set, KaiserCraft alphas & wooden candy cane, Studio Calico wood veneer stars, October Afternoon button, and washi, chevron bag, twine, flat backed button, star paper clip, tag & doilie from my stash!

Christmas Time Is Beaut!

Did you know that it is less than 7 weeks until Christmas ... eek!!!
One thing I love about Christmas is taking photos and recording all the wonderful memories. Although I took plenty of photos last Christmas I didnt get around to Scrapping or SMASH*ing them.

Last week the gorgeous and talented Kellie Winnell aka "Give A Girl A Blog" asked me to showcase her new range of Christmas stamps (available for pre-order here). The "Christmas Time Is Beaut" stamp set is so fun and very Aussie! This was the perfect opportunity for me to SMASH* some of my memories of Christmas 2011. I've used 5 of the sentiments on this page. These sentiments are so versatile you could use them for SMASH*ing, scrapbooking, cardmaking, Project Life, daybooks etc!

I've splattered some brown paint in my Red SMASH* folio (just started this folio and loving it!!) and used a heap of my favourite products including Give A Girl A ... "Christmas Time is Beaut" stamp set,  KaiserCraft Merry & Bright Collectables, Studio Calico wood veneer tree and bird, Simple Stories bingo card, October Afternoon button, and washi, flat backed button, tag & doilie from my stash!

Next I need to work on making my Christmas cards. I've been waiting to buy the October Afternoon "Make it Merry" collection ... but it is still not available yet!! I'd love to hear how your Christmas Cards are going and what collection you are using this Christmas.

Make A Wish!

August was birthday month for my eldest daughter. Each birthday the girls pick out a special birthday cake for me to make (The Australian Womens Weekly Birthday Cake Book is fantastic!). I've made fairy mushroom cakes, ipod cakes, dolly varden cakes, pink and sparkly cakes ... but this year it was to be the more mature version - a triple chocolate mude cake, yum!!! I absolutely had to SMASH that along with the other fabby achievements of the month.

I've splattered some red paint in my Orange SMASH journal and used a heap of my favourite products including Amy Tangerine stickers, diecuts & envelopes, Angie Delarie "old vintage camera" digi, Studio Calico wood veneer numbers, word and bird, SMASH* stickers, October Afternoon alphas, Typo stamps.

Who's up for Bowling!

We love to go 10 pin bowling in the school holidays. It's great that it caters for all ages so we can all have a go. So, more photos and of course I had to SMASH this!

These pages are in my Orange folio (my version of Project Life for 2012). This folio has plainer pages so I love to splatter or spray paint on them (splatter in this case)!!

For these pages I've some Angie Delarie strawberry embellishments amd old vintage camera & roller skates digis, Amy Tangerine alphas, rosettes, & washi, Simple Stories bingo card paper, Studio Calico wood veneer bird and girl, SMASH envelope, and crocheted butterfly, flat backed button, tag & doilies from my stash!

A Smile To Scare!

A new range of Halloween 2012 Character digis have just been released over at Angie Delarie. As soon as Angie sent them to me I immediately printed them out and started SMASH*ing (I had to get into it when I had the opportunity!!)

I've used my Blue Retro SMASH* folio and I printed the coloured AD images out on photo paper. I splattered white watercolour paint on the pages first then started adding - making sure I didnt cover up the funny rooster!

These photos were taken when we went out for an evening meal recently. I take photos all the time and my family quicky tire of having to pose - so they started with this hilarious "Smile to scare" - just perfect for these halloween digis.

For these pages I've also used some of the Amy Tangerine "Ready Set Go" puffy stickers, stickers, die cuts & alphas, October Afternoon washi and alphas, Studio Calico butterfly stickers & wood veneer word bubble & typewriter, and a doilie and spiders from my stash!

Fun on the Farm and 'Stache SMASH Bash' Winner!

I've got another fun SMASH* page to show you today but first things first:
the winner of the "Manlie Moustache" digi's from Angie Delarie, for the "Stache SMASH* Blog Hop"

Congratulations to Christy!!
Christy if you could please email me and I'll get this organised for you.

On to my SMASH pages. As you will have seen in some of my more recent posts I have been enjoying making and using my own paint/ink sprays and using them on my SMASH pages. I do find I need to be more organised when I do this though because I tend to start to plan my pages, then I spray them, then I let them dry for a few hours or overnight then finish them off. The orange SMASH book is perfect for sprays because the pages are plainer.

These photos are of our farm at the end of winter when everything is lovely and green, and the spring flowers are just starting. My youngest daughter loves to pick flowers, mainly just the flower head with maybe 1-2cm of stalk lol.

For these pages I've some Dear Lizzie stickers and die cuts, Amy Tangerine alphas and date stamp, Studio Calico wood veneer bird, butterfly and word, and washi, bow and paperclip from my stash!

Smashing Sisters 'Stache' SMASH Bash!

Woweee, It's here

Welcome to our "Moustache" (or "Mustache" of you prefer) themed SMASH* Blog Hop. Why dont you make yourself a coffee/cuppa or pour yourself a drink and sit back and enjoy!

If you've come from the amazingly creative Angie then you are right on track! If not then you might like to go to the start with the beautiful Lizzie.

I have never used Moustaches in my SMASH* books before so of course this meant I had to go online shopping ... a number of times. I ended up with quite a bit of stuff (as you do hehe) so I've made a few pages for this hop!

My first pages, called "All about the mo", use the super cool "Manlie Moustache" images from Angie Delarie. My family reluctantly went along with my crazy idea for the photos - I thought it was funny!

Lately I've been having fun experimenting with using paints and mists on my pages. On this page I've used a bright pink Chalkboard spray and I love the effect of the random blotches as well as the fine mist!

I've also used a heap of October Afternoon "Midway" products (washi, stickers, alphas, papers), Amy Tangerine camera embellishment and alphas, SMASH* date stamp, Martha Stewart doilie, Typo heart,  Studio Calico wood veneer star & word bubble, Greatest View flat backed button, and a doilie, button & tag from my stash!

All of these pages are in my blue Retro SMASH* book. I just love this book - many of the pages are too funny to cover up, including this one with the horse! I have 2 horses myself (I have always been horse mad - but of a childhood romance thing I think!). As soon as I saw this page I knew I had to use my horses photos - in disguise of course! My family just looked at me and laughed (again) when they saw these pages - soo my sense of humor! These pages are titled "In Disguise".

I've splattered white paint on this page. I just loaded up a paintbrush with water and watercolour paint (those solid paint blocks in a set that kids love to use, see below) and then tapped it (with my fingers or a pair of scissors) to splatter across the page.
This is one of my favourite paint effects to use - and cheap too!

On these pages I've also used The Beary Scrap Mustachio stamps, WOW Chipboard mini mo's, October Afternoon Midway chipboard shapes & alphas, Amy Tangerine stamps, alphas & stickers, Typo measuring tape ribbon, Studio Calico wood veneer apple, Stampin' Up! lace trim, Greatest View flat backed button, and a doilie, fabric yo-yo, washi, word bubble sticker, chevron bag & tag from my stash!

After finishing these pages I still had lots of "mo" stuff left so I wanted to make a page all about famous "Mo's". Funnily enough these pages are in a row in my SMASH* book - can you believe it! These are titled "Motel Moustache".

I've used a variety of sprays on this page, I've even tried making my own. I have a heap of ink refills already (Stampin' Up! and Tim Holtz) so I just add 5 or so drops to half a small spray bottle - very easy and cheap too!
Here is a photo straight after spraying.

For these pages I've used Angie Delarie "Manlie Moustache" images, The Beary Scrap Mustachio stamps, KaiserCraft wooden moustaches, October Afternoon Midway stickers, papers & alphas, Martha Stewart doilie, Typo tag, and washi, flat backed button & chevron bag from my stash!

Phew, you've nearly made it to the end of my post ... but wait there is more ...

I have some fun digi's to giveaway thanks to the generous Angie Delarie. One lucky person will win one of these sets of images (either coloured or b/w). Arent they fabulous!
