More Christmas Inspiration!

This month the Challenge at Bizzy Becs Store Blog is "Christmas", and I'm lucky enough to be a Guest DT member for the month, Yay!!! We would love for you to join this challenge and be in the running to win a fantastic prize!

I've been wanting to try colouring using distress inks and this is one of my first attempts. I find this method of colouring more casual (not so precise) than using copics and gives much more of a watercolour look. I'm keen to do more of it (now that I have all the stuff - hehe)!

A Christmas Challenge at Bizzy Becs!

Wowee, I won the October Challenge at Bizzy Becs Store Blog  - how lucky am I. Even better, they asked me to be a guest designer for their December Challenge! Of course I said yes.

Once Upon A Time Final Preview … My Butterfly

I love pink and orange together in patterned papers. Such a bright fresh look. My daughter received some butterfly embellishments for Christmas and she kindly let me use one on this card (thanks sweetie!)

Today we introduce you to the adorable “Bella On A Swing”. I love fairies – my girls have always loved dressing up as fairies.

I decided to keep the layout of this card simpler but dressed it up with lots of sparkle (around all the paper edges).

Today we introduce you to the adorable “Teddy Cuddles”. I just love this image because it reminds me of my darling daughter who just adores her teddy (mind you she is only 2!). I will use this card for her next birthday (in a few weeks time!).

Pink and brown are some of my favourite colour combinations for cards and I love the vintage look with the lace and doily.

I’ve also used one of the sweet digi ticket stubs (A Little Bit Of Everything – 3) available from Bizzy Becs.

Today we introduce you to the adorable “Roses Roses”. This is a very feminine and romantic image!

Roses are my most favourite flower. We have a huge border of David Austin New William Shakespeare roses at our house (a pruning nightmare!!). I’ve made my own scrolled/rolled flowers (sorry but I cant find a link for this) and used another gorgeous digi ticket stub from Bizzy Becs.

Today we introduce you to the adorable “Strawberry Basket”. I just love the sweet yet modern look about her!

I wanted to keep this card simple and fresh. The cards I made for these previews are all 14.8cm x 14.8cm and fit into a 17cm x 17cm envelope (due to the bulk of the embellishments and layers).  If you want to use 15cm x 15cm envelopes I would recommend making 14cm x 14cm cards.

Once Upon A Time Preview Day 1 … Cupcake Fairy at Blue Butterfly Stamps

Welcome to Day 1 of our Previews of the

 collection new to Blue Butterfly Stamps at Bizzy Becs.

Today we introduce you to the adorable “Cupcake Fairy”, and I’m sure you will agree that the combination of a cupcake and a fairy is just gorgeous!

I tried something different with this image and did some paper piecing on the cupcake.

The way I print out digital images is that I print the image on copy paper until I get the size right. Then I cut out a piece of cardstock (I use Stampin’ Up!’s Whisper White) the size I want to cover the image (and extra for die cutting if necessary). I attach this cardstock over the image on the copy paper using a repositionable adhesive (I use Dotto by Stampin’ Up!), then I feed it back through the printer. This method works well for attaching small bits of patterned paper to certain parts of the image to use in paper piecing – no waste!

I also made an extra set of wings in velum which I sponged with shimmer paint and attached. I made a template for the wings using copy paper then cut out in velum so no printer lines would show.
