Project Life Week 4!

Today I'm showing you Week 4 for my "Schultz Family 2016" Project Life Album. This was the final week of summer school holidays for us.

I've used the January Pocket Life kit Roy from Scrappy Canary for these pages - I love the Studio Calico PL cards in this kit, perfect for journalling!

Here is a close up of the LHS. It was a hive of activity at home for us this week. There were lots of veggies in the garden and I processed lots for the freezer. We also continued making the cat run for our new kittens and the girls prepared their books and bags for school.

Jessica has such a creative imagination - she made her own drum kit using containers from the "Tupperware" cupboard.

Here is a close up of the RHS. It was our 9th Wedding anniversary this week and the girls went to their first movie on their own :)

One highlight for the week was visiting our local newsagent and seeing the row of Scrapbooking Memories Magazines with my page on the front!!!

All of my photos have been printed on an Epson XP-600.

More Art Journalling!

Today I have another art journal page to share with you.

For this page I first painted gesso on some pages in my large Dylusions journal. Then I applied watercolour pan paints using a "painting with plastic" or "Smooshing" technique where you paint onto a piece of plastic packaging (or an acrylic block) then "smoosh/stamp" the plastic on your page. You can also spray water on your page first if you like, or add more water to the plastic for different effects.

Then I added some stencils using an impasto medium. I didnt really like this as much as texture paste as it dried a yellowish colour. When this had all dried properly I added more paint splats, some stamping (Kellie Stamps) and rub-ons. Then I gave a light spray of white (Dylusions).

Lastly I added a  Colour Me Positive 2016 quote and this cute girl image (a very old image from Angie Delarie).

Project Life Week 3!

Today I'm showing you Week 3 for my "Schultz Family 2016" Project Life Album. This was another week of school holidays for us.

I've used the January Pocket Life kit Roy from Scrappy Canary for these pages, and I've kept it simple and achievable!

Here is a close up of the LHS. We went to our first cricket match and it was awesome! The big bash series is a fabulous family event. The tickets were quite reasonable (just over $50 for the 4 of us which is cheaper than going to the movies), the atmosphere was fabulous and it only went for 3-4 hours which was plently long enough for the girls. The only down side was that it was about 40degC and humid - I nearly melted!!

I love the journalling space already defined on these Studio Calico cards.

It has been such a long hot summer here and the girls love it in our pool.

My Art Journal!

Today I'd like to share one of my latest passions - Art Journalling!! What I love about art journalling is that it is all about experimenting with your creativity. Also, there are no rules. So far I have been using my art journal to experiment with different mediums to see how I might use them on my scrapbook pages.

I've been silently following Colour Me Positive 2016  which has weekly quotes and challenges - and lots of inspiration! I have taken the quote on this page from one of their challenges.

I'm using a large Dylusions journal. At times I find this journal too large to easily work with on my small craft space. When this journal is finished I will get the smaller size.

I gesso'd both pages first and let dry. Something I like to do before I gesso is add a strip of washi tape along the spine - it prevents leakage of paints/sprays.

I started by spraying some blue/green Prima bloom sprays across the page as well as sprays of water (to help it run and drip). I added some acrylic paint to texture paste and did some stencilling. Then I squirted some blobs of paint across my page and squished the page together like you would do a butterfly print. Once this was thoroughly dry I added some splats of a lime spray. 

I stamped Stampendous girl image on watercolour paper and painted using my Windsor and Newton watercolour paints. Then I cut out the image and glued onto my page. Lastly I added some stamps, handmade flowers and a quote. 

I have made about 6 pages in the last 5 days and are loving it!!!

Keep it Real - With Imaginarium Designs!

Today I have a scrapbook page to share using lots of gorgeous Imaginarium Designs chipboard. 

I've used a photo of John and Jessica inspecting the hay bales on our farm - haymaking is always an exciting time for us!!

I've used the November/December scrapbook kit "Leila" from Scrappy Canary for this page and I was inspired by K+ challenges to use Kraft cardstock for the background - perfect for this more masculine page!

I painted each of the ID chipboard pinwheels with some acrylic paints. I dont often use these paints but I love the thicker more vibrant look they provide - I will definitely get them out more often now!

I have also used 2 metal Imaginarium Designs dragonflies - I love the large range of metal charms available, they are a perfect complement for the chipboard.

I painted the title chipboard in black acrylic paint then stapled it to my page along with some cotton thread, flair and a paper flower. I've also added some little bitty stamps from a Dear Lizzy roller stamp.

Small acetate tags are always a fun addition to a page without being too overwhelming.

I finished my page with some layering of patterned paper under my photo, a few tags and some splats of black paint.

Project Life Week 2!

Today I'm showing you Week 2 for my "Schultz Family 2016" Project Life Album. This was the week after our beach holiday. We were still on holidays and did lots of fun things around home.

I've used the January Pocket Life kit Roy from Scrappy Canary for these pages.

Here is a close up of the LHS. This summer has been very hot and many days were 35degC-40degC so we enjoyed time in our pool. We also spent time reorganising a room in our house/workshop for our new cats. The cats havent arrived yet but we are building a dedicated cat run to keep them safe. This meant some gyprocking, painting, cleaning and reorganising!

When you are busy at home and still on holidays then you have to have pizza for tea!!

 

Here is a close up of the RHS. This week the girls and I had a day in the city; spent time in the pool; did some baking and set up the tent for some backyard camping!

Here is a photo of our kittens - they are Burmese and are 2 weeks old here. We are getting 2 - but have another 10 weeks to wait till we can bring them home!
